Dan Whitford

Dan came to editing from the tables rather than the other way round. He finished a journalism degree at the University of Missouri in 2004, spent a few years in local news in St. Louis, and in 2008 left the newsroom to play poker for a living, grinding cash games across the Midwest until 2015. The decade since has gone on writing and editing strategy and feature pieces for poker publications, which is where he learned to read a bonus term the way he once read a table: for what it actually pays.

On BlackJack AU he is the last person to see a page before it goes live. He checks every figure against the cashier screenshot from the test, every bonus condition against the casino's own terms, and every house-edge claim against the maths. Where the author and the editor disagree, the number wins. He still plays casino poker and blackjack, and a correction sent through the contact page lands on his desk first.
